Halloween Games 10/5 Candy Corn Guessing Game
This is the CCB Halloween Game for Monday October 5th It's really easy, just guess how many candy corns it took to decorate this pretty pumpkin. It was done by a talented 18 year old girl from Australia a few years ago. Don't try to cheat and look up the domain site where the picture is hosted, as it gives no clues. The answer was revealed secretly to me in a group setting several years ago. Your only clues are that the pumpkin is medium size, and the candy corn goes all the way around the pumpkin, and fills every space but the bottom. dd has a friend who has a friend that has a pp account but no pp card. She transfered 75.00 from her pp to dd account in which she also doesnt have a pp card. It happened at a grocery store in Clackamas. Deputies said it doesn't appear the woman or her unborn baby were seriously hurt. KATU has obtained the surveillance video of the incident. It shows the woman standing in line, with her Coach-brand in the cart, and a man reaching over to grab it. Just outside the video's viewpoint, deputies said the man then shoved the cart into the woman's stomach. He then steps back into the video before taking off out of the Safeway store at 12032 S.E. Sunnyside Road. But he didn't get far. At least one employee - and other witnesses - chased after him. They caught up, he dropped the purse (with everything still inside) and he took off. That was three weeks ago, on Sept. 15. However, police have yet to find the man in the video. As such, they are asking for your help. The pregnant woman in this case believes the man is 25 to 30 years old. She said she heard him speak in a language other than English, Spanish or Russian. Good Morning Everyone! Got over the worst of the catching up on homework yesterday! Now it's just maintaining. I forgot how much work is assigned in college. I think I did okay on the test, just the word problems that caught me. Thankfully there was only two of them! Class today, a computer lab. Word2007 **yawn** Only staying in the class because of Excel and the other programs I haven't seen in years and they are skills needed in the job market. #2 was sick yesterday and had a fever. Should have known something was wrong when he slept in and took 2 naps! This morning he seems fine and is eating well. Maybe he just needed to catch up on his sleep. The usual today. Lessons, class and I have a bedroom that exploded clean clothes. I do not know what DH lets those boys do while I am gone, but they change clothes too much! I sold a few things in auction last night. We have had an ongoing problem with breakfast before school for a few years now. James is in 6th grade and wakes up at 6am! He still doesn't want to eat breakfast. I used to make him eggs and sausage; he would pick at it and I'd end up throwing it out. (or eating it myself Well we sort of solved the problem this year! I discovered the Carnation instant breakfast thingie. He'll drink that without problems! He packed full of vitamins and proteins. Children's Place fall line....are these pants supposed to be
Hi. I was at The Children's Place this past weekend and picked DD up a couple of outfits on clearance from their fall line. Put a pair of the pants on her today and they are shorter than I had thought they would be. However, I have been getting mixed "opinions" today as to weather or not they were supposed to be "shorter". They are not capris, but not full length either. They are stretch material (like leggings) and have a zipper at the bottom of each leg. I think these are what are called "yoga" pants, though I am not for certain. Second time in 2 weeks that buyer didn't pay for shipping!
I have never had this happen before in 5 years of selling, and it has happened twice in the last 2 weeks where a buyer bought something and ebay/Paypal let them check out without paying for shipping! Watch out so that you don't get caught eating shipping charges! The first time, the buyer requested an invoice asking me to add the shipping charges and everything worked out ok. This time...things may not go quite so smoothly. The buyer is in the US but sent several ASQ's in broken English! I sent a money request through Paypal and a note of explanation...we'll see.

So DD and I are both sick with something.. possibly the flu; but I have these deep hacking coughs that just take my breath away at times and my chest is starting to hurt from coughing so much... even with cough med on board. Today is only day 2 of being sick and coughing. I have an ashma rescue inhaler Ive been using every few hours, Ive tried vicks 44 and mucinex Im drowing myself in liquids, juice, water, koolaid, hot cocoa Im on Motrin for fever I cant lay my head down at all or the cough intesifies. I need some relief!! ... do you have any tried and true remedies/ meds for cough relief??

Yellow Jacket stings, what really works?
Somehow a yellow jacket got in our bedroom yesterday, unnoticed, and stung me after 2am. It was on our comforter, and when I moved, it got my arm. It hurt like the dickens for several hours after. But now, my for arm is swollen, red, hot, hurts, and itches on top of that lol! I put insect bite cream on it, which did nothing. Ice helps, but is getting annoying to hold on all the time. We don't have any benadryl (sp?) in the house, but if it works, then I'll ask DH to stop at Walmart to pick up. Or I'm open to anything else that would work. I don't really care about the redness, or ugly swelling, cause I won't win a beauty contest regardless. But the itching and pain it driving me nuts. I already tried Excedrin for the pain, but it didn't help much. We only have so much cash flow till payday, so I really trying to find what will work the first time, kwim?

Every time I have tried to install new updates lately (or even install a whole new program) I keep getting this message: "Network problems are preventing TL from communicating with ebay...please try again later." Good evening. Was just sitting here thinking and thought I would see what everybody here is having for dinner. I need some new motivation. Got an interesting/delicious recipe to share? Would love a tried and true chili recipe and/or beef stew recipe for the crock pot. Currently I have chili in the crockpot, but it is not exactly from scratch... bought packaged seasoning stuff, added cans of kidney beans, ground hamburger, tomato sauce. This is a first for me. Had buyer send a BO on a fixed price item on Aug. 20. I accepted. Never heard from her again. She had low feedback with most over a year ago but one from that day, so I figured she had started buying again. After I didn't hear from her, I noticed one of her old FBs was for non-payment. Filed when I could. No response. Filed for FVFs when I could and relisted. She paid sometime overnight. No contact, just payment. Should I ship or just refund and move on?

I am working on a proposal to teach some adult ed classes in the spring at our school. We have a huge adult ed program here. One will be a fitness class that meets once a week for 8 weeks, and one will be a healthy cooking class, one or two sessions. Would you prefer to do the 3 hour cooking class in the day while the kids are in school, or in the evening while dad could watch the kids? For the fitness class would you rather do a T, W, or TH, or would a M of F put you off in case you wanted to go out of town for the weekend? OT: So, we finally heard back from disability for Dh's ESRD.
And it is good and bad. The good news: We are approved. Yay! And the bad news: The first check won't be until January. It seems that there is some sort of qualification period. I have no clue what we are going to do until then. I am thinking about contacting a lawyer about it, but from what I googled, I'm not sure there is anything we can actually do. I've been thinking about getting job myself, but to be honest, we had the transmission go out in my Sienna van back in March and it is going to be 1800 to have it fixed, which is why isn't fixed now. So we are borrowing a truck from my parents and his car is a stick (I have tried and tried, please don't laugh, I just can't get it) and he can't drive it with the fistula in his arm, plus it doesn't have any ac and the windows don't go down anymore and he can't get sweaty b/c of the cath in his chest (infection would go straight into blood stream). It's really just a ton of drama and crap. So basically, if I go to work, he won't be able to get to his doctor appts not to mention dialysis 3x a week. And then I'm constantly going to have to take time off for all of these appointments and not to mention the hospital stays we've already had, it's been so random. Unless its someone really understanding, I don't think it will even be worth it to get a job. I have applied for some manager positions (I have no experience in anything but retail) about 3-4 weeks ago for some businesses around here, but I have not heard anything and when I call they say that the manager will call if they are interested that they don't take personal calls about applications. I don't know what to do anymore about this. And even if I do get a job, it won't even make a dent in our bills, I will be lucky to make 10 an hour. He was making 17 and hour and getting 60-80 a week (commission based so he usually only worked 40 but turned more). Lisa Check out my super shipping specials!

Help - handling time revisions
I am so confused! Honestly, I am very adept at selling on Ebay but when it comes to new 'rules', I can't seem to get hang of the changes! I am aware that by the 22nd I need to revise all of my "older" store listings and add the handling time, shipping time. Ebay even called my house last week to remind me. I tried to follow the instructions and do it through bulk editing (I use only Ebay, no hosting sites). Well, apparently what they call bulk and what I call bulk are two different things, because I still had to go to each auction and add those options (though they did come up on the same page). I just don't have the time, patience, AND my computer seems to be really slow when working on Ebay. So my question that I can't seem to find the answer to is if i don't do this will they disappear or will they show as unsold? If unsold, I think it would be easier just to edit them and relist. But if they disappear, oh no! Also, is there a way to tell what store listings already have those options..I can't figure out what I've already done and what needs to be done! Maybe I need to pay someone to do this for me~Thanks in advance!!

BIL wants to come down and spend a few weeks with us. Looking online the price of the ticket is pretty cheap for round trip, but my question is the baggage charge. Do they charge you to bring a bag on the plane too? He was going to bring a duffle bag/carry on, are they going to charge to have that bag checked in or is it just the baggage that goes under neath. Northwest is what we were looking at for the airline but if you are charged for carry on I dont know if that is at each stop because he would be stopping in Memphis TN then from there to here and the same on the way back. So many of you have flown recently that I hope you can help me out with this one. TIA

Try and make it short. I have 4 nieces, when my sister died, Hannah went and lived with sister # 2, then after niece 2 moved, Hannah went and lived with sister # 1. Hannah father died also 3 years ago so when she went to live with sister # 1 a good part of the monthly check she gets from my sister goes to niece 1. Hannah will be 18 next month and wants to move out on her own, she is a senior this year and she doesnt get along with her sister or bil much at all but she really had nowhere else to go. Niece 1 said she cant move out and that she will take her to court to make her stay? Now your considered a adult at 18 so would Hannah have a problem moving out anyway? Can Katie actually take her to court and get them to make her stay with her? We just figured that Katie didnt want her to leave because face it, Katie will miss out on the $$$ she gets every month from hannah checks. kwim. I dont think legally there is anything Katie can do to make hannah stay. Hannah and my ds Gary are really very close so he said the same thing, he didnt think Katie could "make" hannah stay there. Hannah has had it a little rough losing both her parents in a matter of 3 years at such a young age but she also cant wait to get out "from under Katie" at the same time. TIA

Since we had heard nothing about the Obama speech from our daughter's school we asked her teacher about it at the end of school Friday. She told us that they were opting not to show it. She said it was a District decision because it's political, and they don't teach religion or politics at school. whatWHAT???? Then, I found out from friends that their children elsewhere in the same District are seeing it. I went to the District website, and they have a long statement about how they have left it to the discretion of the individual classroom teacher whether to show it, and whether to use the curriculum provided, but that parents could opt out. She INSISTED that it was a District decision, and not the decision of the individual teacher or school. She said it was against District policy to show it. WWYD if your child's teacher lied to you like that?

KNEE SOCKS: above or below the knee???
Once again my one and only DD has me flummoxed about fashion. When wearing a short skirt, do fancy striped knee socks belong above or below the knee. The pair I have(from target) is a bit big for DD and it sits about 2 inches above the knee. that's a one inch band and one inch or sock. Will this look okay, or is it a fashion faux pas? And how much below the knee can they go without it looking like she is wearing socks that are too small for her. Because I would like to let her wear last year's socks although I have not yet tried them on her. Thanks in advance.

A new house buyer about 5 houses down opposite side of street my neighbor girlfriend met and he is a police officer, she w/7 wk old sick baby. Took baby for a walk midday in our quiet neighborhood and a middle aged man stopped her and handed her a flier and a sex offender has moved in. Tons of kids and teen girls. From the addy appears an older couples home we met when we moved in 3 yrs ago who are nice, must be their 38 yr old son or something. I looked it up, sure enough. I feel sick and friend of mine who initially found out has a BEAUTIFUL 14 yr old blonde daughter. We will be locking doors and being more alert around here. Don't we live in a scary world? Won auction on 8/25/09 and paid immediatly for item. It was needed for a wedding I am going to on Saturday. I emailed the seller several times to see if it was shipped yet and got no response. I opened up resolution case this morning to try too see if maybe they could help. Seller refunded my money, no explanation, no "Sorry for ya" No nothing. Decorating help please!! Flooring, paint etc.
We are renovating our house. It was completely gutted, and an addition is being added out the front, and up for the second floor. I will put pictures of the plans in the second post so you can see what the layout will be. I need help with paint suggestions for two of my girls rooms (2yrs and baby), also the master bedroom, bathrooms, kitchen, and dining room/living room(they share walls) Flooring, I want dark hardwood even though I am hearing bad things about how it shows every spec of dirt. I would love to see some pictures of flooring. I will also post pictures of the beams we had to put up to take the walls out. I wanted them to look like nice wood beams, but my contractor said that look is 70ish I am not sold on the idea of drywall humps in my ceiling though. If anyone has them, please post pictures!

OT-- DS health class--earn an extra A for working out w/the teacher
Ok so DS brings home this sheet from health class and in addition to the regular homework-- they have to read a 2 pg health article every weekend and highlight parts of it and write about 5 things you learned from the article- if article is from the internet, it has to be a 4-5 pg report. Anthything less will give you a 50% grade. Once a week the teacher has them walk a set course during class time... you have to walk it exactly and do not stop at any point in it; or you will get an F grade for the day. tardy 5 times=F grade entered into the gradebook-- each tardy therafer will result in an additional F being added into your grades. Then it has how you can earn extra A's-- you can go work out with the teacher after school-- up to three times a week for 45 min, lifting weights-- and earn an extra A for each time. Then on Fridays, after school, teacher has a 60 minute walk.. to earn yet another A. Sign up and record all your physical activity and get an A added into your grade for the semester. Now Im all for getting kids to be more physically active but this sems to be a bit biased/unfair in my opinion. The kids that are able to do these physical challenges will get a better grade than those who dont... and it wont matter what grades you got on actual homework or tests. Im seriously concerned about this class!!

DD just got a think in her backpack stating they will be starting breakfast next week! In k-5 and in 1st grade they went to breakfast at a certain time every morning this is the same school so I figured she'd do it this year as well. I didn't realize she hasn't been eating until this note saying they were going to start eating. It's no wonder the teacher complains she can't get her to concentrate she's freaking hungry. DD says the teacher has been having them have their snacks for breakfast...I've been sending usually small snacking foods nothing sufficient for a breakfast. What do you think Baby Phat or knock off?
Does anyone know if this is authentic Baby Phat? Or how to find out if it is or not. There isn't a tag on the inside of the jacket. The only tag is on the inside of the dress. All it says is size 6, hand wash cold, U.S.A. The dress and the jacket are completely lined with satin. It's really cute, but I have the feeling it's not real. TIA, Kari

Did anyone's kids mention the big speech at school
Our district decided that they would not let the kids watch the speech on Tues. They taped it, and then decided to show all the kids the taped version on Wed. So last night as I was folding laundry in my room I had Obama's address on, my dd7 walks in and says "Oh No, that guy is talking on TV again". I forget that they were showing it to the students on Wed.. So we talked about the speech that he gave to the students. She said Obama said to stay in school, go to school everyday, try your best, then..................he just kept saying the same things over and over again. She claimed that she got so tired of listening to the same thing over and over again she put her head down to rest. I just thought it was funny. Parents on both sides were making such a big deal about it. I don't think my dd was harmed in any way by listening to someone say to stay in school and try your best, well that was all she got out of it.

Tom Arma Costume Help, please
I bought this costume at a YS today. The package says Tom Arma and the costume matches the picture. But the tag says "California Costume Collection." Is that what they all say? This is my first one. I also question the quality. It is so thin, it's nearly see-through. Is that typical of his costumes? The booties have no elastic, I doubt they will stay on. Is it a fake?

SSB converter
Let me start by saying that I know nothing about HTML so be gentle with me. I see that SSB has come up with a way to convert Auctiva listings. I've done one and it seemed to work well. The only problem I have is that the physical size of the template is HUUUUUGE. The description is okay in that it's on the left side of the page but the actual template is stretched big time ...ie you need to scroll the page to the right to see the whole thing. Am I doing something wrong and/or is there an easy (again, be gentle with me, I'm clueless in HTML) way for me to fix this? At this point I'd actually even be okay with removing the template (if I knew how) and just having the description showing. Thanks for any advise.

Anyone want to help me with a dishwashing mystery?
Hi, I have a load of dishes with this awful residue/hue that won't come off. I'm trying to figure out what happened. This set of dishes were all washed together with dry powder from Costco. I've never used dry powder before. After I noticed the haze. So I bought the regular liquid soap with the jet clean, and the same thing. One twist to this mystery is that we use to have soft water, but had it removed because there's a new law that doesn't allow us to have water softeners. So is my dishwasher not working right? Is it the dry powder that created the hue or is it the hard water. One extra tidbit on the hard water is that I usually have a pile of morning dishes that I wash by hand and let air dry in the sink and I've never had this haze. BTW -- the haze won't come off. I've tried soaking in Dawn and scrubbing.

Happy Saturday! I bought this Chocolate Soup item at a thrift store. I am used to CS items having sizes on their labels like "5T", etc., but this one's label just says "L". It is about 2/3 the size of a Chocolate Soup 2T dress I have, so I'm thinking it's a top. I wonder what size L would translate to?

Shame on you!! I found a new brownie recipe I've never made. I made read: attempted to make Sara Lee Kalhua White Russian Brownies. Thought it said 2 oz of cream cheese (the lesser the better cuz I can only tolerate it hidden in chocolate). Creamed the ingredients listed....scratching head....why isn't this creaming? It's not creaming!!!! Put it all together stuck it in oven. Looked at recipe again. 2 (3oz) pkg of cream cheese Arrrggghhh;!!!! Anyone wanna try it? I have my DS Little League coach on my email saved list so I won't miss any emails from him. Every time I go on on Facebook, it suggests adding the coach to my friend list. Finally, being the stalker that I am, I click on his picture to see what I can see about him. It allowed me to see his whole profile, which I thought was weird, because most people's are private. So, of course I have to read it, and under profession it says "author" and then gives a link to his blog, which I then clocked on. Holy carp--he is James Preller the children's author of the Jigsaw Jones series! My DS loved those books--we have several, although he has outgrown them now. [ the lady I had bought from a month ago called me yesterday as they are moving today! ] I bought an entire box filled with Starbucks bears!! I bougth three tall fans for the house at $10 each several stuffed animals, a few dvd's for us I found DD a few pairs of shorts I bought a few pairs of RL womens jeans and sweatshirts and an angora sweater. I got a Star wars lego set and a star wars trivia game The same GS I bought the bears at I was goign to buy DD a nintendo DS game -- turned out someone had stolen the game out of the case!! There was one GS that the lady was selling Mary kay stuff and household stuff.. she had girls clothing in DD size-- except she was seling them for 2-3$$ each and they were STAINED! ewwww I was thinking abut buying a couple pairs of jeans that were clean but got interupted by the mailman honking the horn as my car was blocking the mail boxes! oops! Is it technically legal (or at least will they catch it) if we put an image in our listings that links to an off Ebay website such as *gasp* Etsy? Can our siggy's link to the aforementioned abomination? What is the consenus on 30 day listings? I don't think that they had them available to auction and regular buy it now listings when I was selling steadily. Do ya'll think that it's a smart move? 2 weeks without computer...WOW! feedback ? too
Hello everyone. It is amazing how much I have come to looking forward to reading this board. I recently went 12 days without a computer (GASP!) and found myself thinking of many of the "members" here. Unfortunately I got the computer back last night and ended up getting a worm virus within minutes of getting online!UGH! Thankfully my CA anti virus thing found it and deleted it. Going to have to look into getting a firewall, I guess. Received an Ebay purchase while I was offline and now need to figure out what type of feedback to leave them, since they emailed me 3xs with a "form" letter type thing asking for feedback. Originally I was not going to leave any, but now I am not sure. The purchase was a bedding set for my DD, that I bid on and then asked about here and decided I did not want it, but did not cancel the bid as I bid so low that I thought I would be outbid...NOT. With shipping I paid approximately $40. The set is sold as NEW and is very pretty. However, the sheets feel like cardboard, "quilt" has multiple strings "pulled" already and I have not even taken it out of the bag thing....can't imagine it will be any better when I take it all the way out. For years, I've driven by without stopping at a thrift store on the way to my children's camp -- 1.5 hours away. This morning a few of my YSs had been duds, so I was early. This place was hopping, so I stopped. OMG! You know how we always talk about perfect ways to set up stores? Bright -- spacious -- uncluttered -- priced sensibly -- BATHROOMS -- dressing rooms. I'm not saying it was a hotbed of high $$ namebrands, but I'll bet some come through there! In the 20 minutes I was there, I got a GK Elite leotard, vintage Izod Lacoste shirt, vintage Girl Scout shirt, and some Star Wars figures in a grab bag for my youngest. I get to return in a few weeks when I take my youngest to camp. You can be SURE I'll be stopping! Oh, and when I got back to town, I took some packages to the PO and winged by GW. Hanging on the end of the sweater row was a Michael Simon Dr. Seuss Grinch sweater. YAY! Small size, but YAY anyway!

Package Not Delivered.... What to do?
A while back I sold a dress to someone who paid promptly. Packaged it up and shipped as usual. A couple days ago, the package was delivered back to me marked return to sender and someone had hand written on the package "Not at this address". So I double checked that the address in Paypal where I printed the label is the same in Ebay and it is. I emailed her through ebay that the item was returned and to please let me know what she wants me to do...No answer. I also emailed her directly via email and I received an undeliverable response because her email does not allow email from my address.. what the heck does that mean? So what is the protocol ..? Wait? Cannon or Nikon

Have you ever gone away without your kids for a whole week? Alexa is six and we get lots of date nights but never left her with anyone overnight but my mom and sister. Would you want to? Would you leave them with a friend or sitter, with no family member available? My good friend's husband is taking her on a MYSTERY TRIP for a whole week! She found a recommended lady sitter for the kids age 10, 8 and 2. I was a little jealous when she told me.....she could be off to Greece, Italy, Spain for a little hubby time. I can't wait to find out where they are going! So would you, could you, have you?--Beth Got OILILY?

Shipping Charges and Fees
Are sellers allowed to add ebay and paypal charges to their fees? I ask because I asked for a shipping charge breakdown and here is what I got: $2.07 for shipping $1.10 for envelope, $.35 for insertion fee, $.73 for paypal and final value fee was $.87. The total is $5.12. If I charge it in the shipping then I don't have to put it in the item price. I understand the cost of the envelope, though that is much higher than I pay, but I did not think you could pass on ebay fees to the customer through shipping? Am I wrong?

Is there any way to figure out an old email address?
A while ago I set up an email address to use when I fill out forms and coupon and such so I don't get alot of spam on my mail email address. Welllll, now i can't remember what the email address is! LOL... Not a biggie but I was wondering if there was any way for yahoo to find it. Wondered if they could find it by something else?

Are there any LV purse experts here?
Is this real? It measures about 8 1/2 inches wide and about 5 1/2 inches tall. It needs cleaned, inside and out. What is the best way to clean it? Mild soap and warm water? Other than it needs cleaning, it is really excellent shape. The outside of the strap has a couple of nick marks on it and the inside of the strap is worn. The strap measures about 16 inches. Does LV have line names? Thanks for any and all help!

Traffic report just made me ILL!
Seriously, I just went in and looked at my traffic report and it made my jaw drop! Visits across the board, daily unique visitors, pages, everything are less than 10% of what they were a year ago! They are pretty much on par with 4 weeks ago. I had NO IDEA it was this bad! And a month ago, I wasn't even running ANY auctions. Anyone else seeing such a dramatic drop? Am I doing something totally wrong here? Think my broken store front could be a big problem? I keep meaning to fix that but don't know how I mean, that is just ridiculous!!
